What is Unit Price Calculator

A unit price calculator shows the real cost per unit of each product so you can compare package sizes fairly. Enter the price and quantity for each item, such as a 500 g bag and a 1.2 kg bag, and it divides price by quantity to reveal which one is genuinely cheaper per unit. The best value is highlighted, and every other item shows how much more it costs.

How to use

  1. Enter the price of an item.
  2. Enter its quantity or size, using the same unit for every item you compare.
  3. Add more items with the Add item button.
  4. Type an optional unit label like kg or L to read the results clearly.
  5. Compare the price per unit and pick the one marked best value.

When to use it

Standing in the supermarket aisle wondering if the big box is actually cheaper? Enter 4.99 for a 500 g bag and 8.49 for a 1.2 kg bag, and you will see the large pack wins, with the small one costing about 41% more per gram. Handy for groceries, cleaning supplies, or any time a bigger pack is not automatically the better deal.

Frequently asked questions

Is a bigger package always cheaper per unit?

No. Bulk sizes often cost less per unit, but not always. Shops sometimes price a large pack higher per unit than a medium one, which is exactly why checking the price per unit is worth the few seconds it takes.

What quantity should I enter?

Use whatever is printed on the label, such as grams, milliliters, or number of items, and keep it the same for every product. The tool compares like with like, so mixing grams and kilograms would give a misleading result.

How is the price per unit calculated?

The tool divides each item's price by its quantity. The item with the lowest result is the best value, and every other item shows how many percent more it costs per unit.
