Tweet Thread Splitter

What is Tweet Thread Splitter

This thread splitter breaks a long piece of writing into a series of posts that each fit a character limit, ready to paste one by one. It splits on spaces so words are never cut in half, keeps your paragraph breaks, and adds a "1/5" style counter that is measured so no post goes over the limit once the numbering is attached. Pick 280 for X, 300 for Bluesky or 500 for Threads and Mastodon.

How to use

  1. Paste the long text you want to turn into a thread.
  2. Choose the character limit for your platform.
  3. Keep or remove the 1/n numbering with the checkbox.
  4. Copy each post in order and paste them into your thread.

When to use it

Wrote a 900 character take that X will not let you post in one go? Paste it here, keep the 280 limit and you get four posts, each ending in 1/4, 2/4 and so on, with no word chopped in the middle. Copy them one by one and your thread reads cleanly from top to bottom.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cut words in half?

No. It breaks between words on spaces, so each post ends on a whole word. A single word longer than the whole limit is split as a last resort, which almost never happens with normal writing.

Does the 1/n numbering still fit the limit?

Yes. The space needed for the counter is reserved before the text is packed, so every post stays at or under your chosen limit even with the numbering added.

Which platforms does it support?

Any platform with a per-post limit. The presets cover X at 280, Bluesky at 300, and Threads and Mastodon at 500. Pick the one that matches where you are posting.
