Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce image quality?
No. Cropping only keeps the pixels inside your selection, it doesn't resample them. Choosing JPEG or WebP on export applies normal photo compression, same as any image; pick PNG if you need a lossless result.
Is there a limit to how small or large I can crop?
The selection has a small minimum size so it stays usable, and it can't grow past the edges of your image. Beyond that, the limit is your device's memory, not the tool.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All cropping happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.
Can I crop to a specific ratio like a square or widescreen?
Yes. Use the aspect ratio buttons (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2) to snap the selection to that shape, or leave it on Free to drag any rectangle.
